If you have tweens, then like me, you braced yourself for the HSM2 invasion this weekend. High School Musical 2 has been the most child anticipated television premier since, oh I don't know, ever! Like other moms over the country, I was cooerced into throwing a HSM2 party for my lil' Divas and their closest friends. With all of our HSM2 preparations ready for the Divas' arrival, I thought back to my own favorite musical, Grease. While I was quite young when the movie came out and had no private Diva party, I still recall the wonderful feeling the movie produced within me. It was while I was listening to my Grease record that I realized my passion for music and dance. My mom recognized this love as well and put me in dance (ballet, tap, and jazz) classes until I was 15 years old. Music and dance continues to be my passion. So, yes I watch both "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance".
So, as I sit down with my lil' Divas I wonder what this musical will inflect in my girls. They already love music and love to dance, but will this movie persaude them to become more involved with the arts? Only time will tell. I hope this movie will resound with them the way Grease did with me. Take a minute to cast your vote on the movie that made the music jump off the screen and into your heart.
